For some children, four weeks at camp feels exciting.
For others, it feels like a very big step.
The Starter Program is designed specifically for younger campers who are ready to try camp — but may not yet feel ready for a full four-week session.
Over two intentional weeks, campers are welcomed into the rhythm, traditions, and magic of camp life, with additional structure and support built in along the way.
Starter is not “less camp.”
It’s a thoughtful, confidence-building introduction to camp.
Starter campers participate in electives, swim lessons, evening programs, and traditions alongside their peers. The difference is the pacing and the support.
Our goal is simple:
To help campers leave feeling proud, capable, and excited to come back for more.
Starter is ideal for:
At Camp Becket, Starter campers live in two designated cabins within our youngest camper village.
They experience the full Becket program — from “Do Your Best” moments on the field to waterfront time, creative arts, and evening traditions — all while being guided by staff who understand that this may be a camper’s very first extended time away from home.
Starter campers:
By the end of two weeks, most campers feel deeply connected, confident, and ready for future full-session experiences.
Starter at Becket is about building comfort, resilience, and belonging.
Many Starter campers return the following summer ready — and eager — for a full four-week experience.
Two weeks can be all it takes to build the confidence that lasts a lifetime.
