Camper Community Agreements

Camp is a Community

Our camps are places where campers can be part of a caring community that supports them in trying new things, developing new skills, and building lasting friendships.

Our sense of community goes beyond the physical structures and shared spaces; it’s about fostering a sense of belonging, connection, and understanding among individuals. The foundation of these communities lies in the collective effort to create an environment where everyone feels heard, valued, and a sense of belonging.

While camp is fun, it is also challenging and requires some emotional stretching, stepping out of our comfort zones, trying new things, and learning how to work as a team member. In fact, we believe that much of the value of the camp experience comes from the learning that comes from navigating these healthy challenges.

Here are some things campers will be asked to do in order to successfully participate in our programs:

Emily has joined the year-round team after five years of being a seasonal summer staff member. A local resident, Emily enjoys the changes of pace that the seasons bring to the Berkshires. In the colder months, she enjoys crocheting, cooking, and baking. In the warmer months, she enjoys hiking and exploring with her husband and three kids (when they aren’t at Chimney!) You can also find her reading or painting whenever she finds the time. In the workplace, she prides herself on her organization and drive for efficiency. Her favorite part about camp is making connections with so many friends from all over the world. Emily looks forward to getting to know more camp families and colleagues in her new role!
