Booking a rustic wedding with Berkshire Outdoor Center is easy. Our Coordinators will walk you through all the steps between choosing our gorgeous venue and saying "I do."
Our wedding rates are fully inclusive of meals, accommodation, activities, programs, equipment usage and staff. We do not charge additional taxes or gratuities. Our rates do not include alcohol, flowers, decorations, the cake or photography. Please visit our Rates Pages for more information on our rates.
The first decision to make is - when shall I come for a tour? We know that once you see the place, you'll fall in love. If it is a gorgeous old-world camp you are after - a rustic, natural setting centered around a gorgeous pond and surrounded by 1,500 acres of pristine wilderness - then our two sites here in Becket are ideal for you.
There are five components to a rustic wedding at Berkshire Outdoor Center:
- The Ceremony
- The Rehearsal Dinner
- The Reception Dinner/After Party
- The Weekend/Overnight
We can host you for any or all of these components. And the best part is, we can tailor any of them to suit your specific taste. For example, we have had couples canoe to their ceremony. We have hosted outdoor cookout rehearsal dinners. We can provide transportation to other venues in the Berkshires for different components of your wedding.
Couples can choose between making the entire weekend exclusive use, or each of the components exclusive use. For example, you may choose to rent the whole campus for the entire weekend, or you may choose to share the campus with another wedding party, but have an exclusive ceremony, rehearsal and reception. If you choose to share, you will see other people on the grounds, but will never be scheduled to participate in activities with them or a share meal with them. It is up to you to what extent you'd like to see other people in your weekend. Guaranteed minimum numbers are waived when wedding weekends are non-exclusive. Regular group rates apply.
This option is not available if we have other non-wedding groups booked.
The ceremony can be held indoors or outdoors. It can take place in our chapel-by-the-lake, our amphitheater, our beautiful dining hall, Becket Library or in Gibson Hall. The Ceremony is always held in an exclusive space at camp, regardless whether you choose to share the campus with another wedding party. Alternatively, we can provide transportation options to a ceremony at the beautiful St. Andrew’s Chapel - A small, non‐denominational, turn of the century stone chapel a short 10 minute drive away.
Usually for between 5 and 50 guests, the rehearsal dinner is traditionally the night before the wedding. It can be held in our gorgeous Becket Library, built in 1931, one of our camp dining halls, or outdoors around the barbecue. It can be a basic cookout or a lavish 5 star feast - or, of course, something in between. Couples can choose from 5 meal options, and then tailor those meal options in consultation with our food service directors. The Rehearsal Dinner is always held in an exclusive space at camp, regardless whether you choose to share the campus with another wedding party.
The Reception Dinner can be held at any location in the Berkshires. It can be held on site with us in one of our two fabulous dining halls, or it can be held at another preferred Berkshires venue. We can make the reservation and we can help provide the transportation. The Reception Dinner can be as basic or elaborate as you wish. Our Food Service Directors have a lot of experience catering weddings and tailoring menus to specific needs, and our off-site partners work with dozens of couples to plan the meal and celebration of their special day.
On-Site Reception Dinner/After Party - There are 5 meal options, all of which are tailorable - depending on your needs. We can host up to 350 people at a reception dinner and will provide table linens, beautiful Noritake china and glassware - all included in the price.
Off-Site Reception Dinner/After Party - There are 2 partners we work with, but you can choose to have your Reception Dinner and After Party anywhere you wish!
Dreamaway Lodge - " Part restaurant, part bar, part music venue and all theater, the Dream Away features locally grown and sourced food, an imaginative and affordable menu in its own inimitable style, and a wide range of music, art, theater, cabaret and spoken word events. It boasts b eautiful public gardens, a stunning forest Ballroom/event space, a wildflower meditation labyrinth, an outdoor stone fire pit and amphitheater, miles of trails and serene ponds, and nearly 18,000 acres of October Mountain State Forest across the road." The Dreamaway Lodge can tailor the wedding meal to suit your needs and budget. Berkshire Outdoor Center will provide all transportation necessary to traverse the 5 miles of country roads between camp and the Dreamaway. Capacity is 150 in the wedding tent or 80 in the main building. Dreamaway Lodge was featured in O Magazine - read the article
Bucksteep Manor - "A legendary estate nestled on Washington Mountain in the heart of the Berkshire Hills. Facilities include the large English Country Manor House with a classic... casual dining room, a carriage barn with original hand-hewn beams, wood plank floors, stone fireplace and reception lobby... and a wedding platform tent with a capacity for up to 250 guests."
This is undoubtedly the best part of having your wedding at a historic camp in the Berkshires - spending the night with your family and friends, sitting around the campfire, dancing in the dining hall on a starlit evening. All day, you and your guests can be canoeing, kayaking, hiking or playing games, climbing on our challenge courses and climbing towers, catching frogs or searching for beavers in our beaver meadows. There's early morning swimming, supervised by our ARC lifeguards, or take a chance fishing in one of our ponds. Having everyone together, for more than just an afternoon, is a fabulous way to create very special memories of your wedding. You can choose whether you want the entire camp to yourself, or if you don't mind sharing. It is a big space, and you will never be scheduled in activities at the same time or in the same space as other wedding parties, if you choose to share. Rates are 25% lower for shared facility rental.
We can provide transportation to and from any venue - as close as down the road or as far away as New York City, or beyond. Usually, wedding parties choose from the following options:
- Transporting those who wish to stay in local B&Bs or hotels, because they'd rather not stay on camp. This is a great option if people would like to have a few drinks at the Reception/After Party, but are smart and want to leave the driving to us. We can drive people back at the end of the night to their hotel in Lee, Lenox or Stockbridge (or elsewhere). This service operates as a shuttle service and the times can be established in the advanced planning session.
- Transporting all guests between camp and an off-site venue, such as Dreamaway Lodge, Bucksteep Manor, St Andrew's Chapel or any other venue. We can use 54 passenger luxury coaches, or a simple school bus - the option is yours.
- Transporting all or some guests to the Berkshires for your wedding/wedding weekend. We can run buses or vans from Boston, New York City, or anywhere in between. We can use 54 passenger luxury coaches, school buses or minivans.
