General Function

The BOC Assistant Program Coordinator (BOC APC) is responsible for planning and implementing BOC Programs, including acting as a liaison for all BOC groups prior to and upon their arrival to camp.


The Berkshire Outdoor Center Program Coordinator must:

1. Have a commitment to the mission of BCCYMCA and an ability to implement this mission through BOC programs and interpret this mission to the guests and other staff of BCCYMCA.

2. Have experience in Education, Recreation or in a related field.

3. Have a minimum of 1 year experience working in Outdoor Education programs.

4. Have excellent communication and organizational skills, confidence and willingness to interact in a positive and motivational manner with peers and guests.

5. Be flexible, patient and have strong initiative.

6. Be a customer service oriented problem solver.

7. Have a valid driver's license and become an approved BCCYMCA driver.

Principle Activities (Program Planning)

1. Work with a BOC Program Coordinator on scheduling & planning programs, materials & resources for all groups. Ensure all groups are prepared before arrival.

2. Meet regularly with BOC Program Director & staff to share updates, information and plan for upcoming groups.

3. Interact collaboratively with other BOC Program Coordinators.

Principle Activities (Program Implementation)

1. Act as primary liaison (host) for groups. Serve as coordinator of daily schedule & staff assigned to the group.

2. Facilitate and run classes and activities when necessary, as an instructor (occasional).

3. Facilitate teacher and chaperone meetings with assigned school groups.

4. Complete billing, evaluations, and necessary follow-up with groups assigned upon departure.

Principle Activities (General)

1. Function as an effective member of the staff team and the entire department & organization.

2. Communicate effectively to staff and supervisor.

3. Assist the BOC Program Director in planning and delivery of staff trainings and professional development of the staff.

4. Assist with recruitment of seasonal staff.

5. Effectively communicate mission and goals of BCCYMCA to all program instructors and guests.

6. Be able to perform other duties as assigned.

7. Perform all assigned duties in an enthusiastic and timely manner.

8. Maintain general facility and equipment upkeep on a daily basis. Maintain facility for safety and cleanliness.

9. Assist with maintaining compliance with all ACA accreditation requirements and Commonwealth regulations.

10. Work to develop a leading edge program which meets the needs of the clientele of BCCYMCA.

1. Each group visiting BOC will experience consistent and high quality customer service.

2. All programs administered by BOC will be conducted in a safe, age appropriate and fun manner.

3. Staff morale and retention will be consistently high.

4. Weekly group evaluations will meet defined expectations.
