The Distinguished Service Award was established by the Alumni Council in 2010 and first presented at Alumni Weekend that same year. The award was created to compliment other awards in the organization which recognize great loyalty and service as well, but over shorter periods of time. The Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor a member of the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA community can receive.
Candidates for the award may be current or former alumni, parents or friends of the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA. In addition, candidates will meet the following criteria:
* A body of work on behalf of the organization as a member of the staff and/or a leadership volunteer.
* 10 or more years of combined service as a staff member and/or volunteer.
* Epitomize and exemplify the best that the organization stands for, helping to build strong spirit, minds and bodies.
* Revered in their time at the organization and since for his/her strong character and supreme loyalty in support of the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA.
