Welcome Message From the CEO

CEO Phil Connor and Board Chair Dave Smith

Thank you for visiting the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA Website

Let me express to you my excitement to be involved with an organization so rich in history and with a wonderful tradition of providing a first rate rustic camp and leadership experience for young people. I think you will get a sense of this excitement and energy while you peruse the pages of this site and learn more about how we build strong character and new life-long skills that are Changing Lives for Good.

Out of more than 240 YMCA Resident Camps in the United States, Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA is one of only four camps that continue to offer a four-week rustic camp experience, with the small cabin group as the core program offering. This is the organization's niche, and what its reputation has been built upon. The Camp Becket Mottos, Chimney Corners Song and Sign, Cabin Chat, camp songs, Gibson Hall, the Chimney Corners Camp Barn, and Moms' and Dads' Weekends are all examples of this tradition and history that help to define and differentiate the institution.

Our solid reputation also extends to our exceptional Travel Service Program where teenagers travel to new countries and cultures to benefit from community service learning, international understanding, values development, and personal growth. These are life changing trips that guide and challenge young people as they learn to become healthy, competent and caring adults.

The Berkshire Outdoor Center offers incredible adventure leadership programming year-round to schools, colleges, youth groups, adult groups, families and individuals from all over New England and New York. Over 8,000 individuals benefit from the Berkshire Outdoor Center experience annually. The Berkshire Outdoor Center is home to the most comprehensive ropes course in the Northeast.

Through this site:

  • Explore our summer residential summer camp programs for children at our Camp Becket for Boys and Chimney Corners Camp for Girls
  • Learn about our international connections and programs offered by our Travel Service Program for teenage campers
  • See how the Berkshire Outdoor Center can be a part of your school, organization or company's orientation, training or conference
  • Find out how our participants evolve from camper to explorer to leader
  • Become involved through your time and treasure by helping us make camp affordable to all families while sustaining our facilities and programs.
  • Take advantage of our easy registration for any program, get to know our staff and catch up on the latest news and happenings.

Your visit on the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA website is one way you have reinforced how much you value residential camping and outdoor leadership training. Thank you for visiting and I hope your involvement with our mission and programs continues and grows.
