Berkshire Outdoor Center > Programs > Youth Groups
Building relationships and building character - our programs for youth groups emphasize the connections within and between individuals. Youth groups who attend our programs build bonds that can only be developed through common experience, overcoming challenges and working together.
Through physical, mental and emotional challenges presented by our fantastic staff, and through sharing a rustic, overnight experience in the woods, your youth group will grow together and be more connected to one another.
All of our programs can be fully customized - we will plan your stay with you.
Berkshire Outdoor Center's Programs for Youth Groups can be summarized in the following packages.
Similar to our Leadership Development programs for colleges and for schools, our Youth Leadership Development program utilizes our Challenge Course - the largest and most comprehensive educational challenge course in the North-Eastern United States. Our programs use low ropes, high ropes, climbing towers, the Alpine Tower and our exceptional teambuilding initiatives to emphasize communication skills, cooperation and other leadership skills for the individuals within the group. By working together in a safe environment, being encouraged to take a chance and step out of a comfort zone, youth learn to rely on one another to get the job done.

Sometimes your youth group just wants to get away and have some fun outdoor activities - like canoeing and kayaking, swimming, climbing on our climbing towers, and maybe a nature hike. Or perhaps archery, learn some outdoor survival skills or cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. We have plenty of outdoor, recreational activities you can participate in, and if you just want to have fun, this is the program for you!
A lot of youth groups attending our programs want to combine some Leadership Development activities with some environmental lessons and some meetings of their own. You can combine as much or as little together when planning your retreat. We can arrange meeting space, AV equipment, break out rooms, and all the activities that you want. Let us know and our Program Coordinator will help plan the retreat that suits your needs.
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts from all over the North-East attend our programs in order to fulfill the requirements for their badges. By bringing your troop, or a collection of troops, up to our programs, you can complete activities that work towards badges. These activities might include canoeing and kayaking, swimming, archery, climbing, nature activities, outdoor survival and more!
