Let me express to you my excitement to be involved with an organization so rich in history and with a wonderful tradition of providing a first rate rustic camp and leadership experience for young people. I think you will get a sense of this excitement and energy while you peruse the pages of this site and learn more about our camping philosophy, how we build strong character and new life-long skills that truly change lives for good.
Out of more than 240 YMCA Resident Camps in the United States, Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA is one of only five camps that continue to offer a four-week rustic camp experience, with the small cabin group as the core program offering. This is the organization’s niche, and what its reputation has been built upon. The Camp Becket Mottos, Chimney Corners Song and Sign, cabin chat, camp songs, Gibson Hall, the Chimney Corners Camp Barn, and Moms’ and Dads’ Weekends are all examples of this tradition and history that help to define and differentiate the institution.
Our solid reputation also extends to our exceptional Travel Service Program where teenagers travel to new countries and cultures to benefit from community service learning, international understanding, values development, and personal growth. These are life changing trips that guide and challenge young people as they learn to become healthy, competent and caring adults.
The Berkshire Outdoor Center is a best kept secret, offering incredible adventure leadership programming year-round to schools, colleges, youth groups, adult groups, families and individuals from all over New England and New York. Over 8,000 individuals benefit from the Berkshire Outdoor Center experience annually. The Berkshire Outdoor Center is home to the most comprehensive ropes course in the Northeast, and a new High ropes course added at Chimney Corners in 2007.
