Karola Jungbacker
Oshkosh, WI
Elected 2007
Each visit to the Berkshires offers Karola an opportunity to experience the wonder of camp for herself. Her five children have made their way through a variety of camp roles as campers, TSP participants, leaders and staff. The sense of community, adventure, camaraderie and strong ethics represented by the Camps has been an ongoing source of inspiration for her family. One son found particular refuge in camp when he joined the Berkshire Outdoor Center Staff after evacuating New Orleans post-Katrina. Whether safe haven or simply a second home, the Camps have been a source of confidence, good humor, enjoyment and personal growth for each of Karola's children. A Wisconsin-based lawyer and adjunct professor of Business Law at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, Karola is also a dedicated volunteer for multiple Oshkosh based non-profits. She serves on the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA board as a way of giving back to the camps for all they have meant to her children over the years.
